Get Help: Share The Table

How Share the Table Can Help YOU.

If you are one of the many CT residents enrolled in SNAP and are concerned about the amount you will receive in the coming months, this supplemental assistance program may be able to help you stretch your benefits a bit further.

ALICE Fund

Through our ALICE Fund, United Way Coastal and Western CT is partnering with local nonprofit and municipal agencies to provide direct cash assistance for food purchasing to individuals and families enrolled in SNAP. Individuals will receive $100 and households of 2 or more will receive $250 on pre-loaded debit cards, designated specifically for purchasing food.

How do I apply for funds?:

  1. You must live in a town in Fairfield County (excluding Greenwich and Shelton) or Litchfield County towns of Bridgewater, Kent, New Milford, Roxbury, Warren, or Washington.

  1. Go to one of the partners agencies on this list

  1. Provide proof of your identity with valid photo ID and printed Department of Social Service SNAP Budget Letter. You can find out how to print a Budget Letter here: How do I print a Budget Letter?

  1. Receive approval from both the partner agency AND United Way Coastal and Western Connecticut.

Funds are limited so we cannot guarantee enrollment. If approved, you will receive your funds via a prepaid debt card (digital or physical) that you can use at local grocery stores, supermarkets, and bodegas.

These cards are good to use until June 30, 2026 and can be used in addition to your SNAP benefits to help cover some of your costs while shopping. If you have trouble reaching one of the referral partners on the list, please complete this FORM and someone from United Way will follow up with you directly.

Please note that the amount of funds being distributed is dependent on the amount of donations we receive.  We cannot guarantee that everyone who applies will receive financial assistance.

Access to Food

In addition to financial assistance, United Way Coastal and Western CT has a list of available food banks.  You can find a food bank close to you through these guides:
