SNAP Funding Updates

Overnight, the U.S. Senate passed a measure to reopen the federal government and continue funding for SNAP. The House is expected to approve the same package this week, ensuring SNAP benefits are fully funded for December and the year ahead — welcome news for Connecticut families.

However, many households are still struggling to access enough food right now. If you can, join us in Hartford tomorrow and Thursday to meet with legislators during the special session and urge action to strengthen food security.

UWCWC’s Response: Share the Table Connecticut

Tens of thousands of households across Connecticut are still at risk of losing SNAP benefits because of changes passed earlier this year in HR 1. These changes limited eligibility and reduced benefit amounts for many working families, older adults, and caregivers.

We’ve launched Share the Table Connecticut, a rapid-response food drive and fundraiser supporting families facing food insecurity during the SNAP crisis.

How you can help:

  1. Support the ALICE Fund – Provide direct financial assistance to families affected by SNAP delays or cuts.
  2. Collect Food – Host a neighborhood or workplace food drive; we’ll connect you with a nearby pantry and provide all materials.

Find the campaign toolkit, flyers, and social posts here → communications toolkit

For additional support and food assistance during this period, see Share the Table CT community resource listings.
