Quick Minute: How Seedlings to Sprouts Connects Children to Fresh Food

Welcome to this month’s Quick Minute! At United Way Coastal and Western Connecticut, we’re helping children and families build healthy habits that last a lifetime.

This month, we’re highlighting Seedlings to Sprouts, our farm-to-school initiative that connects young children to fresh, local food through hands-on gardening and nutrition education. In partnership with the Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s CT Grown for CT Kids grant, this program is empowering family child care providers in Danbury and New Milford to grow gardens where children learn, play, and discover where their food comes from.

From planting seeds to tasting fresh vegetables they’ve grown themselves, children are learning healthy habits that will nourish them for years to come. Together with our partners, we’re cultivating a community where every child has access to fresh, nutritious food, and the opportunity to thrive.
