Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program
Seniors can get fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from farmers’ markets through the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
Each Senior gets six checks for $3 per season, for a total of $18 per farmers’ market season. These checks can be redeemed at authorized Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program markets across the state. Seniors can receive these checks from their local Municipal Agents or Social/Elderly Service Directors.
Eligibility:
- Must be age 60 or older
- Income must not exceed 185% of the Federal Poverty Level
- Must be participating in another program with proper means testing verifying their eligibility (ex. Renter rebate programs, congregate meal programs, and more)
Apply with your town’s Social/Elderly Service Director or the Municipal Agent for the Elderly. Search 211ct.org to find the Social Services Office or Municipal Agent for the Elderly Office in your town.

SPEF Summer Start

Platform to Employment Youth
Are you a young adult ready to take the next step? The Platform to Employment Youth program offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience, build valuable skills, and get paid while exploring careers that match your interests.
Participants can explore pathways in healthcare, IT, entrepreneurship, skilled trades, business administration, and more—while receiving hands-on support to jumpstart their careers.
This program is designed for individuals ages 18–26 who have completed high school and are currently unemployed or underemployed. It provides structured support to help participants strengthen their professional skills and transition into meaningful employment.
This program is designed to help you grow your confidence, develop in-demand skills, and move forward on your career path.

Growing Gardens, Growing Health 2026
Tuesdays, June 30th – August 11th | 5:30 – 7:30 PM at Fodor Farm
Join the Norwalk Health Department and UConn Extension for a free 7-week program for nutrition education, cooking and gardening lessons for eligible Norwalk families.
Eligibility requirements:
- Currently enrolled in NPS.
- Eligible for free or reduced lunch.
- Parents or guardians must attend (regular attendance required).

4th Annual Make the Road CT Health Fair
Thursday, June 4th | 2:00 – 6:00 PM at The People’s Mansion
Join Make the Road Connecticut for the 4th Annual MRCT Health Fair, offering free evaluations and access to essential medical and community resources.
Attendees will have the opportunity to receive blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, dental care information, and women’s health referrals. Additional services include support for mental and behavioral health, assistance for older adults, help with HUSKY and SNAP applications, and referrals to local clinics for ongoing care. Information on English language learning and after-school programs will also be available.

Join the New Milford Public Library for a beginner-friendly workshop designed to make artificial intelligence accessible and practical for everyday use.
Participants will explore real-life examples and demonstrations of AI features in widely used platforms, including Windows, Microsoft Word, Google Chrome, Gmail, and Android smartphones. No prior experience with AI is required.
