Will 2027 Medicaid Changes Impact You? Take the HUSKY D Pre-Screener
Changes are coming for Medicaid Enrollees in HUSKY D starting January 1, 2027.
Individuals' covered under HUSKY D may see their coverage health coverage may be affected by H.R. 1, also known as ‘The One Big Beautiful Bill Act,’ passed by the federal government. Most “able bodied” Medicaid (HUSKY D) enrollees aged 19-64 will be required to work or participate in community engagement activities. Such activities include: employment, job training, school, community service, volunteering, or a combination of those.
Take the pre-screener from the Department of Social Services (DSS) to see if you are impacted by the coming changes.

The Connecticut Economic Opportunity Summit

The Connecticut Economic Opportunity Summit will take place on Wednesday, September 9th, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. Hosted by the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity, this free event will explore strategies for advancing economic opportunity through lived experiences, community partnerships, and innovative solutions. Registration is now open.

The NPS Family Center and Norwalk Mutual Aid are hosting a Pre-K & Kindergarten Back-to-School Celebration on August 21st. Families can enjoy resources, giveaways, and activities as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Free backpacks will be available for the first 40 students, and every child will receive a free book.

City of Bridgeport's Backpack Giveaway

Families are invited to attend the City of Bridgeport's Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, August 15th at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center. Free backpacks and school supplies will be available for Bridgeport students while supplies last, along with treats and community resources. Please bring proof of residency, and students must be present. One backpack per child.
Monitor My Health is excited to launch Project Prepare, Prevent, Prosper
Wednesday, August 19th | 6:00 – 7:00 PM via Zoom
We are excited to launch Project Prepare, Prevent, Prosper (PPP), a FREE virtual stress management program designed specifically for parents and caregivers living in the Bridgeport area. The program consists of three interactive one-hour Zoom workshops that will help participants:
- Reduce stress
- Improve communication with their children
- Create a healthier life balance
Our first cohort begins on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 6:00–7:00 PM, and the first 50 participants who complete the program will receive a $20 Amazon gift card.

Family & Children's Aid is hosting a free Baseball & Life Skills Clinic in New Milford on August 29th from 9 AM to 12PM at Garrick Farms Park. Participants get mentored by up to 10 former MLB players! Lunch will be provided at the end for participants.
